Public Hearing – Development Revenue Bonds (Marietta College Project) Series 2020

Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at 7:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, or as soon as practical thereafter, in accordance with the provisions of Section 147 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the “Code”), a public hearing will be held by the Southeastern Ohio Port Authority (the “Issuer”) at 204 Front St., Marietta, Ohio 45750 via an open conference call, with respect to the proposed issuance by the Issuer of Development Revenue Bonds (Marietta College Project) Series 2020 (the “Series 2020 Bonds”) in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $34,000,000.

The proceeds of the Series 2020 Bonds will be used to for the purposes of (i) retiring a taxable borrowing undertaken by Marietta College (the “College”) on an interim basis for the purpose of refunding the Ohio Higher Educational Facility Revenue Bonds (Marietta College 2014 Project) dated November 20, 2014 (the “Reissued Bonds”), (ii) refunding the Ohio Higher Educational Facility Revenue Bonds (Marietta College 2011 Project) dated November 20, 2014 (the “2014 Refunding Bonds”) and (iii) refinancing on a permanent basis certain capital expenditures for educational facilities and equipment located on the campus of the College (the “2020 Project”). The Reissued Bonds and 2014 Refunding Bonds were qualified 501(c)(3) bonds under Section 145 of the Code and the 2020 Project is composed of assets qualifying for financing by qualified 501(c)(3) bonds under Section 145 of the Code by the College (collectively, the “Project”). The assets financed and refinanced by the Series 2020 Bonds are owned and operated by the College on its campus generally bounded by and Putnam Street, 7th Street, Greene Street, and 4th Street in Marietta, Ohio and in the County of Washington, Ohio.

The Series 2020 Bonds will be special obligations of the Issuer and will not constitute a debt or pledge of the faith and credit or the taxing power of the Issuer. Persons wishing to express their views on the proposed bond issuance may appear in person at the hearing or may submit their views in writing. Persons wishing to participate in the conference call should request the telephone number for that purpose by either emailing such request to info@seohioport.com or calling 740-760-0158 at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. To ensure their full consideration, all written submissions regarding the proposed bond issuance should clearly reference the aforementioned Series 2020 Bonds and the location and nature of the Project. All written submissions should be sent to the Issuer at the attention of the Finance Director at 204 Front St., Marietta, Ohio 45750, or via email at info@seohioport.com and be clearly marked: Re: Development Revenue Bonds (Marietta College Project) Series 2020. Written submissions should be mailed or emailed in sufficient time to be received on or before the aforesaid hearing date.
